Songs duplicated on AW after updating iOS 8.4

Hi, I've just updated my iphone 6 to iOS 8.4 and I activate Apple Music free trial. On my Apple Watch I've got duplicated songs and unknown playlists and I can't delete them. I've tried to unpair and pair again the watch but it doesn't work. Someone can help me? Thank you

I had the same problem since the update. By the way I also have iTunes Match.

Tried to disable iTunes Match on the iPhone and re-enable it again without success.

Tried to reboot all devices without success.

Then I reset the Watch (watch preferences) and restaured it from last backup.

This last trick solved my duplicated songs problem.

The whole restoration took me 10m and all my settings on the watch seems untouched.

I am having multiple problems regarding the new music app and my Apple watch. Before the update I only had 1 play list loaded on my phone to sync with my watch. Even though I've had iTunes match for some time I turned iCloud music library off on my phone so that I was only dealing with the one playlist. Then yesterday I updated all my devices and decided to play with the new music streaming service. I even downloaded a playlist for offline use. I turned iCloud music library on for my phone and went to my Apple watch app and tried to sync the new playlist. It didn't show up but it shows up and plays through the music app. Also all my playlists showed up in duplicate through the watch app when choosing what I wanted on the watch. They were not duplicated on the phone. So I said ok forget this, go back to the old way. Turned iCloud music off. Loaded 2 playlists to my phone, 1 being a genius playlist. Went to sync them with my watch and the genius list didn't show up. Ugh!!!! Deleted it from phone, tried again with just 2 regular playlists I had created. Synced them with my watch and thought all was good until I read this post. Checked the playlists on my watch and sure enough there are duplicates. Checked the playlist on my phone and yes duplicates there as well. Checked playlist on my computer songs not duplicated. Really frustrated by this. The one I thought was advertised about the streaming music downloads and saving for offline playing was you could sync them with your watch. Well it is certainly not working for me.

After 2 hours call with Apple support I haven't solve this problem yet. I solved duplicates restoring AW but I've still unknown playlists on the AW, A Genius told me this is a bug and Apple is working on fix for all these bugs (maybe on iOS 9 and watchOS 2).

After all I've restored my iPhone, my AW as new devices and it doesn't work. Hope to solve it on iOS9 and watchOS 2!

Apple music is a complete disaster and made a mess of my playlists. I've had to deal with duplicate playlists that have cluttered my iTunes. What's even more frustrating is when I deleted the duplicated the playlists, it deleted the playlists off of my iTunes and phone altogether! Apple Music should have never been rolled out as it's bloated complicated mess that doesn't work. Can someone please tell me how to store my music in the cloud without completely cluttering my iTunes and wasting hours of my time?!?!

Before updating iOS and especially iTunes to Apple Music you had to backup your library because Apple Music applies DRM on your songs. I solved duplicated playlists and songs yesterday creating a new admin user on my Mac and restoring my iphone like new device. I had to setup like new device AW too.

For your problem I suggest you to:

  1. Backup your old library if possible (not Apple Music songs)
  2. Deactivate Apple Music and iTunes Match
  3. Logoff your Apple ID from iTunes
  4. Login your Apple ID
  5. Activate Apple Music and iTunes Match
  6. Add manually your old library

I know it could be a waste of time but it's the only thing that I can suggest you!

Let me know
